Finding the right balance for a buhurt axe

0

I’ve been training with a few different weapons lately and can’t decide what kind of buhurt axe works best for my style. Some feel too top-heavy and slow me down, while others are light but don’t seem to hit hard enough. I’ve seen both one-handed and two-handed versions, but I’m not sure which one gives better control in armored combat. I’m trying to find something that won’t tire my arm too fast but still delivers solid strikes. Maybe someone here has already tested different models and can share what helped them find the right balance between weight and handling?

It’s interesting how much difference a few hundred grams can make in a weapon like that. The balance point and handle length really define how natural the swing feels. Most people I’ve trained with eventually stick to a weight that matches their build rather than chasing extra power. Finding that comfort zone usually takes some experimenting during practice sessions.

I’ve tried both styles and honestly it depends a lot on how you move during fights. For me, a medium-weight one-handed axe feels just right. It’s easier to switch positions quickly without losing power in the swing. The heavier versions have more impact, but they can drain your energy halfway through a round. What helped me most was focusing on proper grip and wrist strength, that really improves control no matter which type you use.
