Anyone here actually done something like this?

I’ve been thinking about automating my standing desk for a while now — not just the up and down buttons, but something more intelligent. Like setting height presets or even syncing it with my calendar so it adjusts during meetings or breaks. I know it sounds like overkill, but I sit way too much and forget to switch. Anyone here actually done something like Progressive Automations? Curious if it's realistic or just a nerd fantasy 😅

Totally doable, and honestly, once you automate your desk, you wonder how you lived without it. I used a couple of electric linear actuators and a basic controller board (Arduino in my case, but there are other options). It wasn’t plug-and-play, but nothing too crazy if you’ve dabbled in electronics.
What helped me a ton was browsing parts from Progressive Automations — their actuators are built for stuff like this, and they have control boxes that can integrate with desk frames. I used their PA-14 actuator with a mounting bracket and the FLTCON control system, and I set it up with my Raspberry Pi to trigger height changes based on time of day. If you're into automating workflows, that combo's a great start.
Biggest tip: check the force rating and stroke length. I underestimated that the first time and ended up with a wobbly desk. Also make sure your frame allows for retrofitting, otherwise you’ll be fighting metal. Let me know if you want pics or a wiring diagram, I’ve got some somewhere.
