Week-long football camps for kids – any experiences or reviews?

Hey everyone,

As the school holidays are approaching, I’ve started thinking about what to do with my 8-year-old during the break. I really want to find something that’s both active and engaging, ideally something that doesn’t involve a screen or sitting around the house all day. That’s when I stumbled across these Week-long football camps run by We Make Footballers.

From what I’ve read, these camps seem to offer a full week of structured football training mixed with fun games, challenges, mini-tournaments, and opportunities to build friendships. It looks like they cater to kids of all levels — from total beginners to those who already play for local teams.

Here’s what really stood out to me:

  • They accept kids aged 4 to 12
  • Camps run during all school holidays (including half terms)
  • Sessions focus on football fundamentals, teamwork, confidence, and fun
  • Coaches are FA-qualified and DBS-checked
  • Available at over 100 venues across the UK

As a parent, that all sounds great, but I’d love to hear from others who have actually sent their children to one of these camps.

A few questions I have:

  • How well are the children grouped by age and ability?
  • Are the coaches good at working with shy or less confident children?
  • Is it more focused on skill development, or just casual fun?
  • How are the facilities? (indoor/outdoor options, cleanliness, etc.)
  • Did your child want to go back the next day — or was it a struggle?

My son enjoys football but isn’t particularly competitive. He plays with friends in the park and has joined a local football club, but I think he would really benefit from a week of more structured play where he can build skills without pressure. I’m also hoping he can meet other kids who share his interests and maybe come out of his shell a bit socially.

We Make Footballers seem to have a great reputation. I saw that they’ve got over 600 reviews on Trustpilot with an average rating of 4.9/5, which is impressive. They also claim that some of their students have even gone on to join academy setups — though of course, that’s not our goal right now.

I’m mainly looking for:

✅ A safe, active environment

✅ Friendly and supportive coaches

✅ Something that combines learning and fun

✅ Affordable pricing for the full week

Would love to hear from parents who’ve booked one of these Week-long football camps, or even from coaches who’ve been part of them. Are they really as good as they sound on the website? And do they manage to keep kids fully engaged for 5 full days?

Any insight or honest feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance — I’m sure I’m not the only parent wondering about this!
