Okay, so I've been on a major 90s kick lately, and I've had "Semi-Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind on repeat. It’s just the ultimate upbeat, windows-down, sing-along song.
I was humming it today and for the first time, I actually wondered what "doin' crystal meth will lift you up until you break" really meant.
I went on ilyrics.net to read the full lyrics... and... wow. 😳
I had NO idea the whole song is this super dark, graphic story about a couple on a crystal meth bender. I've been happily screaming "Doot doot doot, doot-doot-doot!" to this for 20 years without realizing how bleak it is.
It's still a great song, but it hits totally different now.
