How to Build Trust With Restoration Companies

Has anyone here struggled to trust a restoration company after a fire? A close friend of mine hired a firm that looked fine on paper but ended up leaving the work half-finished and then ghosting them—no calls back, nothing. When you’re already dealing with the stress of fire damage, the last thing you want is to get burned (no pun intended) by a shady company. So now I’m extra cautious and want to know: how do you actually vet a restoration company to make sure they’re legit and will follow through? I found fire and water restoration leads and it looks like you can see reviews and check credentials, but I’d love to hear from people who’ve had real success stories—or warnings—about companies they worked with.

Yeah, we ran into something similar with one company that disappeared halfway through the repairs. After that, we made sure to check for licenses, insurance, and lots of recent reviews—especially local ones. We also asked for references and called them directly. It’s a pain, but a little research up front can save you a major headache later.
